During the operation, authorities seized thousands of fake SIM cards valued at Rs 1 lakh 95 thousand, obtained under the guise of a fictitious company. The apprehended individual, Mudassir Mirza, provided crucial insights during interrogation, shedding light on the modus operandi of the fraudulent scheme.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police, STF, Ayush Aggarwal, the investigation was initiated based on a complaint filed by a resident of Dehradun who had fallen victim to an elaborate online scam. The complainant, lured into a WhatsApp group masquerading as a platform for stock trading, became ensnared in fraudulent activities orchestrated by the perpetrators posing as representatives of Indira Securities Company.

Further investigations unveiled that the mobile numbers utilized in the scam were acquired by Mudassir Mirza under the guise of a fictitious company named XENO TECHNOLOGY. Mirza confessed to procuring thousands of Machine-to-Machine (M2M) SIM cards, exploiting them to establish a false corporate identity. These SIM cards, purchased from prominent telecom providers including Airtel and Vodafone-Idea, were subsequently distributed among various agents to execute the fraudulent scheme.

The swift action taken by the STF team, spearheaded by Deputy Superintendent of Police Ankush Mishra and Cyber Police Inspector Vikas Bhardwaj, led to the apprehension of Mudassir Mirza and the recovery of thousands of counterfeit SIM cards. This significant breakthrough underscores the commitment of law enforcement agencies to combat cybercrime and safeguard the interests of the public.
